The Archdiocese of Dubuque pays for the expenses associated with the education of our major seminarians at Mundelein Seminary (Loras College generously covers tuition for our minor seminarians there). By entering the seminary, a man indicates his openness to dedicating his whole life to service as a priest in the Archdiocese of Dubuque; that is no small thing. It is therefore right and just for us to pay for their education; if seminarians had to bear the cost themselves, that might deter them from going to the seminary.
