Catholic Charities – Flood Response

Governor Reynolds has issued disaster declarations for 14 of the 30 in the Archdiocese of Dubuque, including Franklin, Hardin & Tama counties, making individual assistance grants and disaster case management services available to qualifying individuals who have been impacted. Grant applications and instructions can be found here:   https://dhs.iowa.gov/disaster-assistance-programs   Please remind individuals to take pictures and save receipts for grant purposes.  Catholic Charities is working with local COAD’s (Community organizations active in disaster) to assess damage and be a resource to our impacted parishes and parishioners.

Catholic Charities is available to assist parishes:
  • Connect to local resources (shelters, FEMA grant funds, disaster case management, volunteer reception centers, local COAD’s (community organizations active in disaster)
  • Coordinate volunteers to assist parishes and parishioners clean up after a disaster
  • Provide on-site crisis counseling services, if needed.
  • Assist parishes who have been impacted by disasters apply for short-term grant funding through Catholic Charities USA ($10,000 grants)
  • Offer guidance and templates for parishes desiring to collect and distribute emergency financial assistance to impacted individuals
