We have a number of beautiful days to celebrate this week!
First All Saints Day! (A reminder that All Saints Day is a Holy Day of Obligation, so it is to be attended like a regular Sunday Mass).
Thurs. Oct. 31 at 7:00pm, we will have Mass at Hampton for All Saints Day. This will be a bilingual Mass.
We scheduled later in the evening so everyone can come after Trick-or-Treating. So come to Mass and truly celebrate “All Hallows Eve.”
Following Mass, we will have Eucharistic Adoration until 10pm that evening as another opportunity to incorporate prayer into your “All Hallow’s Eve.” So you are invited to stay for a however long you want to pray. (or come back and pray after you put your kids to bed!)
Fri. Nov. 1 at 5:30pm, we will have All Saints Day Mass at Ackley.
On Sat. Nov. 2 at 8:30am we will celebrate All Souls Day at Hampton. This is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation, but it is a day we are encouraged to pray for the deceased. This will be a bilingual Mass.
Then following Mass, all are invited to join me in going to the Hampton City Cemetery for a Special All Souls Day prayer service there. (about 9:15am). We will gather on the Northeastern part of the cemetery.
Whether you can join us for the prayer at the cemetery or not, all the Christian faithful are encouraged to visit a cemetery and pray for the dead. And, in addition to praying at the cemetery, if sometime within the week you also: 1) Go to confession 2) receive communion, 3) Pray for the Pope (offer and Our Father and a Hail Mary for him), and 4) the interior disposition of detachment from sin, you can receive a plenary indulgence.
On Sun. Nov. 3 at 10:30am, at Hampton, Archbishop Thomas Zinkula will be here with us to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for our youth who have been preparing for this! So please pray for our youth who are preparing for this major day and celebration!
So many holy days of prayer this week!
Peace,
-Fr. Kevin
