This is HOLY WEEK! This the highest, holiest, and most solemn celebration of the entire Church year. It is our religious “Super Bowl” if you will. The Sacred “Triduum” (The Liturgy including Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil), is my favorite moments of the year. Because it is a time filled and rich with symbols, and tangible experiences that draw us into this climactic work of Christ and the Mystery of God: The washing of the feet, the procession with the Eucharist, the stripping of the altar, the solemn intercessions, the veneration of the cross; and then my favorite moment: the Liturgy of light at Easter Vigil; the tangible experience of Christ’s light breaking into darkness, when the Paschal Candle enters the totally dark church, and we all draw our light from Christ’s Light.
There is something very powerful and meaningful for us to gather as Church, as the physically gathered Mystical Body of Christ to celebrate and be drawn into the climax of the liturgical year, in the profound experience of the Paschal Mystery.
I know there are many things that make demand on our time, but I strongly encourage you to take some time to prayerfully enter into this Holy Week.
Perhaps try cutting out unnecessary distractions this week: maybe intentionally minimize your screen time, TV, social media, etc. Or if you do watch a movie this week, watch a religious one (About a Saint, or about Jesus). I would highly recommend the free TV show, “The Chosen” about the twelve Apostles hearing their call to follow Jesus. You can watch free online https://watch.angelstudios.com/
And make some time for prayer. I strongly encourage you to attend all three of our “Triduum Service” (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter (whether Easter Vigil on Saturday or Easter Sunday).
The schedule of services this week:
Holy Thursday will be at 6:00pm at St. Mary’s in Ackley
Good Friday will be at 6:00pm at St. Patrick’s in Hampton
Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil) will be at 8:30pm at St. Patrick’s in Hampton.
I especially want to strongly encourage and invite you all to attend Easter Vigil. I know it’s a late service and a long service but it really is the climax of our liturgical year, to really experience Christ’s Resurrection as the light in our darkness, the living waters, and the Saving Word of God.
Also, at the end of Easter Vigil there will likely be a little bit of sweet and tasty dessert! We will have a little party with food at the end of Easter Vigil, to celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection!
(And if you attend Saturday night, that counts as your Easter Mass)
Easter Sunday services will be at our normal Sunday Mass times.

13 de abril – ¡SEMANA SANTA!
¡Es SEMANA SANTA! Es celebración eclesiástica más grande, sagrada y solemne de todo el año. Es nuestro “Super Tazon” religioso, por así decirlo. El Sagrado Triduo Pascual – la liturgia del Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo y la Vigilia de Pascua – son mis momentos favoritos del año; ya que están llenos y ricos en símbolos, y de experiencias tangibles que nos llevan a la obra climática de Cristo y del Misterio de Dios: el Lavatorio de los Pies, la procesión con la Eucaristía, el develo del altar, las intercesiones solemnes, la adoración de la cruz; y luego, mi momento favorito, la iluminación del cirio en la Misa de la Vigilia Pascual. Como la experiencia tangible de la luz de Cristo irrumpiendo en la oscuridad, cuando el Cirio Pascual entra en una iglesia totalmente oscura, y todos encendemos nuestra luz desde la Luz de Cristo. Hay algo muy poderoso y significativo al reunirnos como Iglesia, cuando el Cuerpo Místico de Cristo se reúne físicamente para celebrar y para llevarnos al clímax del año litúrgico, en la experiencia profunda del Misterio Pascual.
Sé que hay muchas cosas que exigen de nuestro tiempo, pero les recomiendo encarecidamente que se tomen un tiempo para entrar en oración esta Semana Santa. Podrían tratar de eliminar las distracciones innecesarias esta semana: quizá minimizando intencionalmente el tiempo que pasas frente a la pantalla (TV, social media, etc.). O si ves alguna película esta semana, ve una religiosa (sobre un Santo o sobre Jesús). Les recomiendo mucho el programa de televisión gratuito “The Chosen” [Los elegidos], que trata sobre los doce Apóstoles escuchando el llamado a seguir a Jesús. Puedes verlo gratis en línea en el sitio web watch.angelstudios.com. Y deja tiempo para la oración. Les recomiendo encarecidamente que asistan a nuestros tres servicios del “Triduo Pascual” – Jueves Santo, Viernes Santo y Misa de Pascua (ya sea la Vigilia Pascual del sábado, o la Misa de Domingo de Resurrección).
El horario de los servicios de esta semana es el siguiente:
Jueves Santo – 6 p.m. en Sta. María, Ackley
Viernes Santo – 6 p.m. en San Patricio, Hampton
Sábado Santo (Vigilia Pascual) – 8:30 p.m. en San Patricio, Hampton.
Quiero alentarlos e invitarlos especialmente a que asistan a la Vigilia Pascual. Sé que es un servicio largo y es tarde, pero en realidad es el clímax de nuestro Año Litúrgico, donde realmente experimentamos la Resurrección de Cristo como la luz en nuestra oscuridad, las aguas vivientes, y la Palabra Salvadora de Dios. También, al final de la Vigilia Pascual, lo más probable es que haya ¡un rico y dulce postre! Tendremos una pequeña fiesta con comida al final de la Vigilia Pascual para celebrar ¡la Resurrección de Nuestro Señor!
(Y si asistes a la Misa del sábado, cuenta como la Misa de Pascua).
Los servicios del Domingo de Pascua serán al mismo horario que nuestras misas dominicales.
