January 14, 2024 – Eucharistic Revival Revisited
I’ve written before that here in the United States, the bishops have called for this season of “Eucharistic Revival,” a season of renewal in prayer, catechesis, and re-centering our lives around the mystery of the Eucharist, which is the source and summit of our Christian life. For more information on what has and is being done on a national level and what resources are available, visit, www.eucharisticrevival.org.
The efforts have also been building towards a national Eucharistic Congress that will be occurring in Indianapolis this July. For more information on that event and how to attend visit, www.eucharisticcongress.org.
On a national level, there have been four nationwide Eucharistic Processions – that is, a prayer procession of people walking all the way across the country. They have begun in four different places on the edges of the country and will be converging for the Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. The one closest to us will be passing through southern Minnesota. From May 26-31, the procession will be walking from Minneapolis/St. Paul–Rochester, Minn. I am thinking of participating in part of it sometime from May 30–June 1. If this is something you may be interested in participating in please reach out to me! as I would be happy to take a group from our parish! For more information on this particular National Eucharistic Procession route visit, www.eucharisticpilgrimage.org/marian-route.
Lastly, I wanted to let you know at a much more LOCAL level about another resource. Fr. Jacob Rouse, pastor of Cresco, Ia., and myself have been producing a Eucharistic Revival podcast for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, titled “Dubeucharistic Revival.” While there are many great resources and podcasts out there that talk beautifully about the Eucharist, we wanted to do something that focused on our own Archdiocese. Thus, we interview different people from our own Archdiocese. Some are conversion stories and testimony about the Eucharist; others, focus more on catechesis and teaching about the Eucharist. And some focus on different Eucharistic-centered events/activities going on within the Archdiocese of Dubuque. If you would like to listen to those podcast episodes, they can be found anywhere you listen to podcasts. It can also be found on the Archdiocese of Dubuque website at, dbqarch.org/dubeucharistic-podcast.
If you click on the icon on the top right of the video you can see the full list of episodes.
Peace,
– Fr. Kevin
