Sept. 15, 2024 – Christ Our Life Conference, Des Moines, IA

The “Christ Our Life” Conference is happening in Des Moines the last weekend of September (Sept. 28 and 29).  This is the probably one of the biggest Catholic events that happens in Iowa, and it only happens every other year.  It features national Catholic speakers from all over the country.  Some of you may have heard some of the speakers as such events as the National Catholic Youth Conference.

It’s a great opportunity to gather with other Catholics from all over Iowa and to hear some great Catholic speakers, and it is only $30 for the whole weekend (which is very inexpensive compared to other comparable events to this! And thanks to many generous donors who make it possible).  Here is a bit more about it from their website:

Conference Background: Christ Our Life Catholic Conference is a non-profit conference being held at Wells Fargo Arena. It is a grassroots effort of faith springing up out of the heart of Iowa and blessed since its founding by Bishop Richard E. Pates and now our current Bishop, William Joensen of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines.

How Did it Come About?: Christ Our Life Catholic Conference was conceived in 2008 and was inspired by the Holy Spirit pulling on the hearts of two women in central Iowa. They prayed, gathered a dedicated and spiritually motivated group of volunteers, and secured world-renowned speakers. The result was a first-of-its kind Catholic conference. Now we are offering an eighth biennial Christ Our Life conference focused on bringing Catholics together, inspiring, celebrating and exploring their faith and bringing souls to Christ.

So perhaps consider taking advantage of this great opportunity!

In other news, thanks to those who took part of the “Prayer Canvassing” event in Ackley, IA (where people went door to door to simply ask if they could say a prayer for them).

And in Hampton, thank you to all who helped to prepare for and all who participated in our parish festival, bringing out two language and cultural communities together for one big parish celebration!

Peace,

-Fr. Kevin
