Last Sunday, January 26 Sister Connie made an announcement at the 10:30 Mass at St. Mary, Eldora. What follows is a condensed version of her announcement:
Do you know how many years I have called St. Mary’s home? 18 years!! We’ve shared so much together. I’ll always be grateful. For a while now, I’ve been aware of God calling me regarding a change in my ministry ~ that whisper within that says: “It’s time.”
Sometime in June, I will be leaving St. Mary’s and this cluster to return to Sacred Heart Convent in Cedar Rapids, which is “home base” for my Mercy Community. I’m in the process of applying for a sabbatical which will give me time to renew friendships throughout the country as well as immerse myself into some social justice experiences and allow me time for an extended retreat.
If you ask me, what comes after that? I honestly don’t know. I can say that I’ll be listening to the movement of the Holy Spirit within me. It was that voice within nearly 18 years ago that whispered, “It’s time” which led me to leave Montana and arrive here … so I will continue to listen. ~ In the meantime I will cherish our time together!
