May 28 – Various Upcoming Parish events (Prayer, Faith Formation and Outreach)
Greetings! We have various prayer and faith formation opportunities coming up in the next few weeks. Thus, for my bulletin column today, I just wanted to list for you the various things that are coming up, and their dates and locations:
Mon. May 29, 10 a.m. (ACKLEY) – Memorial Day Mass at Cemetery: 10 a.m. on Memorial Day we will have a special Mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ackley. If inclement weather, we will hold the Mass in St. Mary’s Church.
Summer Bible Study (ACKLEY) – Each Wednesday from June 7–Aug. 9, 5:30 p.m.: I will be offering a summer Bible study on the “Apostolic Church: A Study on the Life and Letters of the Apostles.” The Bible Study will focus on the “Catholic Epistles” in the Bible: that is 1 and 2 Peter, Jude, James, and 1 John. You are invited to come for any or all of them!
NOTE: In the fall, I will offer this Bible study in HAMPTON during our Wednesday night adult catechesis.
Sat. June 10, noon–4 p.m. (Band Shell Park, HAMPTON) – St. Patrick’s at Gran Festival: Sat. June 10, La Luz Centro Cultural, a center that offers various social services to Spanish speakers and was initiated by the Catholic Presentation Sisters from Dubuque, will be having their annual fund-raising event. Various community businesses usually have a table there and I’m happy to announce that this year St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will have a table there! We will display various Saints from Latin and South America, pictures of those saints for children to color, as well as prayer cards that we will be giving out. Bibles and catechisms in both English and Spanish will also be available!
We are looking for volunteers to help staff the table as well. So if you or anyone you know is interesting in taking a shift at our table that day, please contact Brenda Diosdado by email [email protected] or call the parish office.
Sun. June 11, 6:30 p.m. (HAMPTON) – Eucharistic Procession: Sun. June 11 is the Feast of Corpus Christi. Thus, as last year, we plan to have a Eucharistic Procession at approximately 6:30 p.m. (Following the 5:30 p.m. Spanish Mass). We will process from St. Patrick’s Parish to Band Shell Park. We will then return to the parish for food to follow!
Ask Me Anything (Beans on Butler in ACKLEY) – Tues. June 13 at 6 p.m.: There will be another “Ask Me Anything” event at Beans on Butler in Ackley. All are invited and welcome! Especially invite your non-Catholic friends!
Fr. Jangill – Lastly, I wanted to again mention Fr. Jangill from Haiti who will be coming to stay in our parishes. We are planning on him arriving around July 8 (or a few days after that).
For those who missed my column from April 16 about Fr. Jangill – who he is and why he is coming – you can find it on our webpage: franklinhardincatholic.org/st-patrick-hampton-st-mary-ackley-new-associate-pastor-announcement/.
Peace,
– Fr. Kevin
