My name is Jangill Maimé, I was born on April 6th, 1987, in Haiti. I am the oldest of five children. My parents and two of my sisters live in Grand-Bassin, North-East, Haiti (Fort-Liberté). My brother currently leaves in Spain and one of my sisters in the United States. As part of my studies to become a priest, I obtained a license degree in Philosophy and a baccalaureate in Theology at the Grand-Séminaire Notre-Dame d’Haïti.
I was ordained on June 4, 2016, in the diocese of Fort-Liberté, Haiti. After my ordination, I was appointed associate pastor, and I consecutively work as such in two different parishes for 3 years. At the same time, I was vocations director in the diocese, which was a particularly valuable experience. Then, my bishop sent me to Spain for further studies. In fact, I already completed my Master’s degree in Canon Law and started my doctorate a year ago at the University of Navarra in Spain. I have also just spent seven weeks at Divine Word College learning English.
With the permission and recommendation of my bishop, I have been accepted by Bishop Michael in the Archdiocese of Dubuque to minister with Father Kevin in the parishes of Ackley and Hampton. I will be helping out in other neighboring parishes with Spanish communities. In addition, Msgr Toale has asked me to dedicate some of my time to the Archdiocesan Tribunal in Dubuque.
Finally, I thank Father Kevin and all the people of God in the various parishes. I am here to share with you God’s love and what He has done in our lives. I count on your help to improve my English. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better in the coming months.
May God bless you all!
Father Jangill Maimé
